What is the difference between Zcash and Bitcoin?
Zcash is a fork of Bitcoin which means that they have a lot in common. The main difference are the private transactions. Bitcoin does not offer any privacy since everything is stored in a publicly accessible blockchain.
Zcash offers two types of transactions: The one that Bitcoin has and private transactions. If you download the official Zcash wallet, you will notice that you get provided with two types of addresses.
- Z-addr: Your private address and
- T-addr: your public address
It is up to you which one to use. Currently, all third-party wallets that offer Zcash storage (e.g. Jaxx, Ledger Nano S) support only T addresses. This means that your transactions will be public if you use the coin.
